Sashas Electrolyte EQ™

  •

Electrolyte and water supplementation is an important part pf performance. Performance and health can be improved with proper supplementation before, during and after training, competition and transport.

    • Formulated by world reknowned expert in horse exercise physiology
    • Based on scientific research performed on horses
    • Provides a balanced amount of electrolytes with water - necessary to maintain hydration and prevent/minimise dehydration

    Why use electrolytes?

Horses lose on average 10-15 litres of sweat per hour of exercise or transport. The production of sweat is beneficial to cool the horse (reducing heat storage by body tissues) but comes at the cost of dehydration of the cells and other body fluid compartments. Dehydration impairs the ability to cool (thermoregulation) and results in increased heat storage and heat strain leading to cellular and tissue injury.

The amounts of electrolytes lost per litre of horse sweat is about 10 times greater than that of human sweat, therefore electrolyte replacement is an important part of health maintenance for active horses. Drinking solutions of water with balanced electrolytes before, during and after exercise or transport reduces or prevents dehydration associated with these activities and helps to maintain a healthy and alert horse.

    Benefits for racing horses

Properly hydrated horses will perform better both mentally and physically, and will recover faster after competition, training and transport.
